Dr. Michael Curcione grew up Windsor, Ontario, Canada and received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Illinois College of Optometry. He has been in practice for 15 years. Dr. Curcione is a member of the Saline Area Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Cucione specialized in optometry because he really wanted to help people but medical school didn’t agree with him. He decided on optometry because it gave me the flexibility to not only do what he enjoys but still have time to do fun things with his family.
His favorite patient story from early in his career after graduation involves an elderly man who came to him complaining of a very sudden decrease in vision. Upon dilation he noticed he had extensive retinopathy. Dr. Curcione asked him to go to the pharmacy to get his blood pressure checked. When he came back he said it was 223/121. The doctor immediately instructed the man’s wife to get him to the ER. Two weeks later the man came to the office to thank the doctor personally because the ER doctor said “if it hadn’t been for the Optometrist you would have died any minute.” The man was extremely grateful.
Dr Curcione has a wife, Christina, who also is an Optometrist, and two children, Claudia who is 11 and Anthony who is 9. In his spare time he enjoys playing golf and basketball and traveling with his family.
